Background Remover separates a foreground subject from its surrounding scene. Selecting a JPG, PNG, or WebP image creates a local preview and does not transmit the file. The image is sent only after you click Remove background, when it is processed by the configured background-removal service.
Choose the mode that best matches the image and the level of detail you need. Product and portrait workflows can suit clearly defined subjects, while hair-and-edge or higher-quality processing may help with finer boundaries. Results still depend on the source image, selected mode, configured engine, and provider, so no mode guarantees a perfect cutout.
After processing, use the before-and-after slider to inspect the subject boundary. Edge softness, transparent or filled backgrounds, color and gradient choices, and final PNG, WebP, or JPG export are handled in the browser after the cutout is returned. These adjustments do not require uploading the original image again unless you rerun background removal.
Use PNG or WebP when the result must retain transparency. JPG cannot contain transparent pixels, so transparent areas are flattened to white in this export path. The generated image is re-encoded, and original EXIF metadata and animation frames are not explicitly preserved.
Images with clear subject boundaries usually require less correction. Fine hair, fur, glass, smoke, motion blur, shadows, overlapping subjects, low-resolution edges, or similar foreground and background colors can be more difficult for automated removal. Keep the original image and review important edges before publishing or replacing a production asset.

The inspected application code does not explicitly write the raw input or generated image to persistent application storage. However, web frameworks, proxies, hosting infrastructure, and configured external providers can have their own buffering, logging, and retention behavior. Do not treat the absence of an application storage write as a universal deletion guarantee.
Use it only when server-backed processing and possible configured-provider forwarding are acceptable for the image. For highly confidential or regulated material, confirm the active infrastructure and provider handling before transmitting the file.
The active workflow accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. AVIF is not supported end-to-end by the current Background Remover path.
The current Background Remover interface and default server configuration accept one image up to 10 MB. An image can still be difficult to process because of its decoded dimensions or complexity even when its file size is under that limit.
Choose PNG when transparency and broad editing compatibility matter, WebP when you want transparency with modern compression, or JPG only when you want a non-transparent result.
