Start with the PDF task you actually need

The best PDF tool depends on the job. If you have several documents that belong together, use a PDF merge tool. If one large file contains only a few pages you need, use a PDF split or extract tool.

For email attachments, upload limits, or slow document sharing, use a PDF compressor. For sensitive files, use protect or unlock tools only when you have the right to modify the document.

2

Use merge, split, and compress carefully

Merge is useful for invoices, reports, scanned documents, application files, and client deliverables. Before merging, put files in the final reading order and remove duplicates.

Compression is useful when file size matters, but very strong compression may reduce image quality. For official documents, keep a backup of the original file before creating a smaller copy.

3

Privacy checklist before using PDF tools

Avoid uploading highly sensitive documents to tools you do not trust. For browser-based workflows, check whether the task is processed locally or sent to a server.

For personal IDs, contracts, medical records, financial statements, or confidential company files, use extra caution and review the website privacy policy first.
